Update from the Chair, April 2018

Tēnā koutou te whānau whānui o Ngāti Rārua,

Firstly I take this opportunity to acknowledge our whanau who have passed, as well as the whanau who have supported the many tangi throughout the motu. Ka tangi te ngākau nei i te ngarotanga e tau ana kei waenga o tātou.

This year we began with a stategic planning workshop with whanau and Trustees that grounded us in our history and the aspirations for our collective future as Ngāti Rārua. Key themes that emerged were: rangatiratanga,
whakawhanaungatanga and matauranga. We look forward to rolling out many iniatives throughout the coming years that support and reflect these themes.

Getting out and about is a focus for the coming months, not only our Trustees but also capturing our whānau in their mahi out in our communities. Some key kaupapa that we are involved with at present are Te Waikoropupū Water Conservation Order, Te Putahitanga Symposium and our Marokopa whanau supporting the Poukai – more information on these can be found later in the pānui.

Nō reira, āku mihi ki a koutou katoa
