    Who We Are

    Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua is the mandated iwi authority of the iwi Ngāti Rārua who are from Te Tau Ihu o te Waka o Maui and of Tainui waka. The role of the Rūnanga is to care, uphold and enhance the mana, the assets and the whānau whanui of Ngāti Rārua.

    Our Governance Board

    Our Board of Trustees are experienced in corporate, finance, banking, whakapapa, history, cultural and social dimensions. Each one of our board members have strong whakapapa to Ngāti Rārua. More >>

    Our Operations Team

    Our land, assets and activities are managed by an Operations team located across the Te Tauihu rohe. We currently have offices in Wairau, Whakatū and Motueka. Read >>

    Our History

    The wider Ngāti Rārua tribal family completed negotiations with the New Zealand Government (Crown) under Waitangi Tribunal Wai785 and received compensation for misappropriation of land, income and profits during the occupation of foreign owned business and colonial interests during the period 1840 to 2013. Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua was established in 2013 out of the negotiation and are the official registered ‘settlement entity’ with the New Zealand Government and the New Zealand Companies Office.
